B. Jugalbandi
Jugalbandi literally means 'entwined twins'. Aren't we in awe of the duet when the musicians play different instruments/vocal in tandem with each other? And what truly defines a jugalbandi is that both the musicians are on equal footing, both are the lead players. Similarly, our Jugalbandi collection is the marriage of India's rich heritage of incredible weaves with a playful contemporary aesthetic.
The inspiration for this collection has been the institution of the Indian arranged marriages. It's the mutual respect, acceptance of diversity, welcoming freshness, retaining family traditions and practice of inclusivity that forms the base of the collection.
We have always seen Banarsi being used for ethnic ensembles. However, the idea of dressing up someone like Serena n Blair from Gossip girl, Carrie n Samantha from Sex n the city, Veronica n Betty from the Archie's, were they to choose traditional textiles, is what we have translated into this collection. What their interpretation would be and how they would style it! Our idea is to give Banarsi a very global appeal, making it viable for not only weddings but also at high street and other social events.
